Review: Man Whore

Man Whore received a lovely 4-star review posted to the Silver Publishing website.

Thank you, Aurelis Felix, for taking the time to post THIS.

My favorite part: “one can feel the lovers falling in love and their commitment to one another”.

This is especially important to me because the couple of low ratings I received on GoodReads.com were because the reader didn’t like Morgan’s slutty behavior. I understand that some readers don’t like such behavior in their romances, but it was with those readers in mind that I started the blurb with “Morgan is happy as the local slut.”

I could not allow such a man to be redeemed quickly or easily. He messed up. He had to work at it. As he should. Love is easy, but relationships require effort, will, and work.

Every review who”gets” my intent cancels out five others who simply skimmed the surface and missed the deeper theme. No one is going to love everything I write, and I knew Man Whore would rub some people the wrong way, but that, dear Readers, is why I wrote it. Some would call me an attention whore for that decision/reasoning, but I believe in writing stories that make the readers feel something. I want a reaction, and if it’s negative, that is better than indifference.

Ah, but enough about that. My darling husband just mocked me for writing about writing, instead of actually writing fiction. I have edits, two short stories, a CRANK chapter, cover art forms, and a new character to work on this weekend. There are not enough hours in the day, and yet I always find time to blog when a notion strikes. It might be the Muse’s leather whips and fur-lined cuffs.

Ciao,
Pia Veleno
